NDK 2011 Day 3

I do apologize for the super late update on day 3, but the interviews have been a bit of trouble to edit. Anyways, on with the coverage… All good things have to come to, right? Unfortunately, the same applies for great conventions like Nan Desu Kan.

Sunday kicked off with a great start. After getting some breakfast and cleaning out our hotel room, we headed start towards our interview with Michael Sinterniklaas. Michael really was a blast to talk to, and since we shared the session with two other press groups we had even more time for questions! Be sure to check out our full video interview that will posted up in a little bit.

On top of that, make sure to check out and support the charity group that he and Stephanie Sheh have been working on together, We Heart Japan.

Once we got our equipment together, we went directly to check out who won for the AMV Contest this year. Even though, I didn’t find this year’s contest to be that incredible, we still were eager to learn of the winners and go to support them!

Right after, in the same room, was the annual Charity Auction. This year was by far the most exciting auction yet. With people betting up to the thousands on the incredible merchandise that was put up for sale. Highest bid of the show went to a young gentleman for a crazy $2200 on a poster of Sailor Moon signed by the voice actors. It was simply breathtaking seeing how much the fans were in support for the Japanese Red Cross Society!

With that, we ended up taking another final stroll through the halls of the Marriot, taking some final pictures here and there. Up until the end we were continuously surprised at the incredible cosplay we found.

Finally, at last, it was time to wrap up the weekend at the Closing Ceremonies. And, the directors did not let the weekend end without a huge bang, with Jeremy screaming and jumping at the top of his lungs on stage. It was then “officially” wrapped up with a tradition Japanese method of saying goodbye consisting of a couple claps and yells of “Yo”!

It is truly amazing to see what Nan Desu Kan has become since it’s humble roots in the Tivoli Student Union simple as a student event for some college kids. We want to congratulate and thank all of the directors and head for making yet another wonderful weekend that left us smiling memories for months on end!
